Former Finance Minister AMA Muhith, who was admitted to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital after he was diagnosed with Covid-19 a week ago, is still facing breathing problems.

Muhith, 87, has lost appetite and weight as well, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Muhith's younger brother, told reporters at the State Guesthouse Padma today.

Unlike the previous night, Muhith slept well last night, Momen said.

Muhith was admitted to the hospital last week after he along with all his family members were diagnosed with Covid-19.

In fact, Momen said, during Eid, a number of relatives visited Muhith. This could be the reason why they got infected, he added.

There was no oxygen facility at his residence. So, he was admitted to the hospital.

"We are hopeful that he will recover," Momen said, seeking prayers from the countrymen.

When Momen visited him at the hospital last night, Muhith said everything was alright, and asked for newspapers and books.

"So, I'm supplying him newspapers and books," Momen said.
