Nationwide daylong Covid booster dose campaign on July 19
A nationwide daylong Covid-19 booster dose campaign will be observed on July 19 (Tuesday) to expedite the vaccination programme to combat the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) sources, people aged 18 and above will be eligible for obtaining Covid-19 booster dosage throughout the daylong campaign. They (eligible people) will receive a vaccinated booster dose after completing four months.
Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce, said the government has set a target to administer 75 lakh people with booster doses on the day.
"Alongside regular vaccination centres, we have set up additional centres to inoculate the targeted people with Covid-19 booster dose," he told BSS.
As of July 14, a total of 27,95,85,685 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including booster doses, were administered as the countrywide vaccination campaign was launched on February 7, last year.
"Till the date, Bangladesh received over 30 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines. Either the country got the vaccine doses under COVAX facilities or through purchase," DGHS said.
