8 die in Covid units of 3 Khulna hospitals in 24 hours

Eight patients died while undergoing treatment at the Covid units of three Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8am today.

The hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital and Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital.

Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at KMCH, said that six patients died at the unit in 24 hours till this morning. All of them were Covid-19 positive.

A total of 117 people were undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid unit till 8am today. Of them, 41 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 45 in yellow zone, 11 are in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 20 at intensive care unit (ICU), he said.

Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, one patient died at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8am. Seventy-five patients were admitted at the Covid unit of the hospital till this time.

One patient died at the Covid unit of Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital, said Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath, spokesperson of the unit. Forty-three patients were taking treatment at the unit till this morning.

No patients died in the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital during this time.
