Govt halts gas well drilling for 48 hours

The government has instructed to postpone gas well drilling activities for 48 hours across the country today.

A Petrobangla official told The Daily Star that Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has verbally instructed to postpone the gas drilling and seismic survey activities till the morning of November 25.

"We would keep such operations postponed until 8:00am that day," he said.

The official said the instruction came as a precautionary measure following multiple earthquakes within a short span of time.
