Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan is set to lend his iconic voice to “The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky”, a spectacular fireworks show onboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, Disney Adventure. The show will debut during the vessel’s maiden voyage from Singapore on March 10.

Walt Disney Studios confirmed the news on Tuesday, describing the collaboration as a meeting of a global superstar with the only cruise line in the world to stage fireworks at sea. The show is designed as an original nighttime experience exclusively created for the Disney Adventure.

Reflecting on the project, Shah Rukh Khan said “The Lion King” has always been close to his heart, noting that its themes of courage, hope, and family continue to connect with audiences across generations. Having previously voiced Mufasa in the Hindi-dubbed versions of The Lion King and Mufasa, he described narrating this new reimagining as a “full-circle moment” and a deeply personal passion project.

“The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky” will feature elaborate pyrotechnics, immersive lighting effects and a music-driven narrative unfolding above the ship. The soundtrack includes beloved songs from the franchise such as “Circle of Life”, “Hakuna Matata”, “He Lives in You” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?”. The music has been newly recorded with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, alongside distinctive contributions from South Africa’s Ndlovu Youth Choir.

Disney Cruise Line’s Southeast Asia vice-president and regional general manager Sarah Fox said partnering with Shah Rukh Khan brings added emotional depth and cultural resonance as Disney Cruise Line expands into Asia.

The show will be staged on select evenings during both three-night and four-night sailings. The Disney Adventure, the first Disney Cruise Line ship to be homeported in Asia, is also the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons. Designed to host up to 6,700 guests, the ship features seven themed zones inspired by Disney, Pixar and Marvel, as well as the world’s first roller coaster at sea.
