Mithila’s film streams on YouTube with a new title
The government-funded Bangladeshi film “Jole Jwole Tara” has been released on YouTube—under a different name. Directed by Arun Chowdhury, the film is now available on the Ten Studios YouTube channel with the new title Tara’r Circus.
Originally released in theatres in February last year, “Jole Jwole Tara” is inspired by the story of circus performer Tara and boatman Hossain Majhi. The film quietly premiered on YouTube nearly three months ago, a fact that remained largely unnoticed until director Arun Chowdhury confirmed the digital release on social media. He explained that the title change was made at the distributor’s request for the YouTube version.
Actor Rafiath Rashid Mithila plays the lead role of Tara, a travelling circus performer who lives by the river and moves from place to place with her troupe. Speaking previously about the role, Mithila described the character as both physically and emotionally demanding, saying it required courage as well as deep preparation to portray authentically.
Actor FS Nayeem appears opposite Mithila as Hossain Majhi. The film also features performances by Fazlur Rahman Babu, Azad Abul Kalam, Mostafiz Noor Imran, and Monira Mithu in supporting roles.
