Noted actress Monira Mithu started her journey in showbiz twenty years ago, with Humayun Ahmed's "Openty Bioscope". The artiste has been spending busy days, shooting for different tele-fictions and drama serials.

We caught up with her to know more about her career, bond with Humayun Ahmed, and more.

You have been in this industry for twenty years. What do you have to say about the quality of recent television productions?

A notable number of good projects are being made, compared to the budget. We are still struggling with budgets when it comes to television projects. Even then, the artistes, production teams, and directors work really hard, only because they love their respective professions.

Better budgets will lead to better productions—that's what I believe.

What is your opinion about the emergence of OTT platforms?

The emergence of OTT platforms has been brilliant for our industry. Through this wing, many who somehow perhaps failed to garner the deserved attention on television, have come into the limelight. We have found many new, promising faces.

OTT platforms allot higher budgets, which enable directors to improve their productions' quality. This, in turn, leads to better storytelling and scripting, along with access to better technical support.  I am very positive about this change.

You are known for your versatility. Which have been some of your most favourite roles that you have played in your journey so far?

I would have gotten more versatile roles if I was a male actor, ranging from   a truck driver to a rickshaw puller, a gangster, and what not. I regret that I don't come across such characters.

I miss many characters that I have played on screen. I recently played the role of Shefali Khala in "Family Crisis", and this character is very close to my heart.

Humayun Ahmed and your brother Challenger were your guardians in this industry. Could you speak a bit about their roles in your life?

My brother Challenger had a very short acting career, spanning only six years. However, the love and appreciation he garnered over those few years made him a household name. I still get emotional, looking back at my memories with him.

I also miss Humayun sir, especially during the Ekushey Boi Mela as he introduced me to reading. His books made me an avid reader, while his films and television dramas were my acting lessons. He was a guiding light for me.
