Diego Maradona's extraordinary life and career are set to be retold for a new generation, with an animated series on the Argentine football legend officially in development.

India's Reliance Animation has secured the rights to produce the scripted series, which will chart Maradona's journey from his childhood in Villa Fiorito to becoming one of the most iconic figures in global football. The project is being planned for both television and streaming platforms, though creative details and a release timeline have not yet been disclosed.

The series is being developed in collaboration with SATTVICA SA, the rights-holding entity managed by Maradona's family, with Bridge Marketing Group acting as mediator. According to the producers, the show will explore Maradona's defining successes on the pitch, his personal struggles off it, and the cultural legacy that cemented his status far beyond the sport.

Maradona's sisters expressed hope that the animated format will help introduce "their brother" to children worldwide, allowing younger audiences to discover the larger-than-life figure whose influence reshaped modern football.

For Reliance Animation, the project marks a significant milestone, while for fans it offers a new way to revisit — and reimagine — the story of one of football's most unforgettable icons.
