In an unprecedented move for Bengali cinema, advance tickets for the upcoming film “DeSu7” have gone on sale 10 months before its theatrical release, marking a first for the industry. The film reunites popular on-screen pair Dev and Subhashree Ganguly on the big screen after nearly a decade.

The announcement was made during a Facebook Live session on Monday (January 19), where Dev and Subhashree appeared together for the first time in years. The film, directed by Soojit Dutta of Khadaan fame, is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 16, coinciding with Durga Puja.

During the live interaction, the actors also unveiled special gold-coloured passes for the ‘first day first show’ of the film, featuring their autographs. Both stars, dressed in coordinated blue outfits, hinted at being fully prepared for what they described as a competitive festive box-office season.

Dev described the project as more than just a film release. “I can assure audiences it will feel like a festival—something truly celebratory,” he said.

Subhashree, reflecting on her long association with Dev, recalled her early career struggles. “When Khoka Babu happened, many people were not ready to accept me as a heroine. Dev stood by me then,” she said.

Dev revealed that “DeSu7” took shape following an unexpected phone call on December 31, 2025, at a time when even his own team was unsure if the project would materialise. “I sensed a big battle ahead and knew I would need your support,” he said, adding that the film would not have been possible without Subhashree.

He also noted that industry uncertainties throughout 2025 influenced the way the project was planned, prompting him to structure it in a way that would avoid delays or setbacks.

Subhashree echoed that sentiment, explaining her decision to join the project by referencing Dev’s past remark after Dhumketu that she was “not so innocent” anymore. “I felt a major battle was coming. I’ve fought battles since childhood, so I decided to stand with him in this one,” she said.

The early ticket release and the high-profile reunion have already generated strong buzz around “DeSu7”, positioning it as one of the most anticipated Bengali releases of the upcoming festive season.
