Bangladeshi documentary "Beyond Peace - Story of Goundam" has been officially listed in the prestigious Cannes Film Agency Catalogue 2025, marking a proud achievement for the country's film industry.

Directed by NH Tuhin and produced by Moied Mohammad Robel, the documentary tells an inspiring story set against the harsh yet stunning landscape of Goundam, in southern Sahara, Mali. It follows the extraordinary mission of UN peacekeepers who transformed a barren desert into a flourishing green oasis against overwhelming odds.

At its heart, "Beyond Peace - Story of Goundam" is a moving tale of resilience, teamwork, and humanity's enduring bond with nature. The film captures the real-life efforts of Moied Mohammad Robel, alongside Anser Uddin Khan Pathan, a wildlife photographer who led the environmental initiative, Dr Rumi, whose care for nature and animals brings emotional depth to the narrative, and Sreema Chakma, whose unwavering commitment to conservation proved vital to the mission's success.

Despite facing extreme heat, severe water scarcity, and constant security threats from local conflicts and terrorist groups, their determination led to Goundam being recognised as the first green camp in Sector West by the United Nations in 2023.

Described as a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit and the triumph of hope over adversity, the documentary highlights the extraordinary impact of compassion and collaboration in one of the world's most challenging environments. Its inclusion in the Cannes catalogue marks another significant step for Bangladeshi storytellers on the global stage.
