Chhayanaut to host folk-music evening honouring Lalon Sain today
Chhayanaut will present an evening of folk music this evening (Friday), dedicating the programme to the legacy of Lalon Sain. The concert opens at 6:30 pm in the auditorium of the Chhayanaut Cultural Centre in Dhanmondi and is free and open to the public.
Chhayanaut general secretary Laisa Ahmed Lisa said in a release that the night will feature songs by five traditional lyricists, including Lalon Sain and Manmohan Dutta.
Performers will also render works by Kamal Pasha, Jasim Uddin and Nilkomol Mishra, bringing a range of rural and mystical repertory to the urban stage.
As in past seasons, organisers have kept the event accessible: those who cannot attend in person can watch a live stream on Chhayanaut's official Facebook page and YouTube channel. The programme aims both to celebrate Lalon's spiritual and musical influence and to reconnect urban audiences with the folk traditions that shaped Bangladesh's musical heritage.
