For Fahmida Nabi, Eid this year is being observed away from Bangladesh, as the National Film Award-winning singer spends the festival in London with her only daughter.

“I’m very happy to be with my daughter,” she said. “We couldn’t meet for a long time. This time feels different.”
Fahmida Nabi travelled to London following complications with her return journey from the United States. Although she had planned to come back to Bangladesh ahead of Eid, changes in travel arrangements led her to the UK, where her daughter, Anmol, lives.

“I had finalised everything to return home,” she said. “But things changed. Now I’m here, and I’m grateful.”
Despite being abroad, the singer marked the occasion with a new release. Her Eid song, “Eid Mubarak”, has been published on her official YouTube channel.

“We love festivals. Eid is one of the biggest in our country,” she said. “The song carries that spirit. I only wish I could have done more with it if I were in Bangladesh.”
The song features vocals by Ibrar Tipu and Jesmin Nahar alongside Fahmida Nabi, with composition by Mubasshir Mojumder.

In London, Eid day is being spent quietly at home. “I’ve cooked my daughter’s favourite dishes,” she said. “Her friends will come over. We’ll spend time together—that’s enough.”
She also plans to meet the daughter of Samina Chowdhury during her stay. “She’s like another daughter to me,” Fahmida Nabi added.

The singer had initially planned to celebrate Eid in Bangladesh with her sisters, but those plans did not materialise.
“I wanted to celebrate at home this year, with everyone together,” she said. “But maybe this is how it was meant to be.”
