Last Saturday (Novemer 1) night, the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Liverpool, Sydney, turned into a grand celebration for expatriate Bangladeshis as two generations of Bangladeshi band music — Miles and Artcell — performed together on the same stage for the first time.

While passers-by were surprised and confused about the sudden appearance of a space guy, some fans said it could have been AK Ratul straight from space to visit the ‘Mohakashcharis’ of Bangladeshi experimental rock, who reunited after 15 long years.

Joining them on stage will be Bangladesh’s rock pioneers Warfaze and contemporary band Level Five, in a concert organised by Stage Co.

Legendary Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila is the protagonist of a forthcoming novel, “Mayar Singhasan”, by acclaimed fiction writer Abdullah Al Muktadir. The book examines her rise in Bangladesh’s musical landscape, tracing her artistic journey, personal struggles, and cultural impact.

The campus spirit is at its peak as Youth Hub presents “Cultural Fest Season 3” powered by UCBL, currently underway at Aloki Convention Centre on October 31 and November 1. Celebrated musician Arnob has released his long-awaited album “Bhallage Na”, a heartfelt tribute to late lyricist and poet Rajib Ashraf, whose words inspired some of Arnob’s most memorable work. The title track originates from a poem Rajib sent to singer Sunidhi Nayak while he was hospitalised with lung complications, asking her and Arnob to turn it into a song.

The band has organised a concert series to perform the album live. The series includes three concerts in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Dhaka, featuring theatrical performances alongside the music where band members will share the stories behind the songs.

Alongside the musical performance, the festival hosts over 100 stalls, offering visitors a vibrant mix of food, fashion items, handmade crafts, and an art exhibition. There will also be indigenous and traditional cultural performances, adding further diversity to the event.

A rare talent, Zubeen sang in more than forty languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Nepali, and several regional tongues. He received a National Award for Best Music Direction for the film “Echoes of Silence”.

The story of The Beatles is heading to the big screen in a never-before-seen way — as four separate theatrical films, each told from the perspective of one member of the iconic band.
