Channel i launches folk music show ‘I Folk Fever’
Channel i is bringing a new folk music programme titled “I Folk Fever”. The show will feature legendary singers and artistes from the younger generation performing traditional folk songs.
The programme will have 23 episodes and will be aired on Channel i. Veteran singer Sabina Yasmin recently completed the recording of her episode at the Channel i studio on Monday afternoon. She performed five popular folk songs for the programme.
Speaking about the experience, Sabina Yasmin said folk songs are close to people’s hearts. She added that she had rarely sung so many folk songs in a single programme before. “I sang five songs and enjoyed every moment of it,” she said. She also thanked Channel i for arranging such an initiative and expressed gratitude to Jahangir Sayeed for inviting her.
Several other singers have also recorded songs for the programme. They include Rafiqul Alam, Khurshid Alam, Kanak Chapa, Ferdous Ara, Salma, Liza, Zhilik and Nakul Kumar Biswas, among others.
The programme is produced by Iftekhar Munim Ahsan and planned by Jahangir Sayeed.
People associated with the programme believe it will help promote Bangladeshi folk music and connect younger audiences with its rich traditions.
