SRK celebrates 34 years in Bollywood in Mangalore
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan marked 34 remarkable years in the film industry with a memorable homecoming to Mangalore, delighting thousands of fans at a special event in Karnataka.
Bringing his trademark charm and energy to the stage, the actor performed to popular tracks such as "Chammak Challo" and "Jhoome Jo Pathaan" before taking audiences on a nostalgic journey with iconic moments from the timeless classic "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge".
Shah Rukh was in Mangalore on Thursday to attend an event organised by a real estate company, but the occasion also coincided with a significant milestone in his career. The visit marked the 34th anniversary of his Bollywood debut in "Deewana", Raj Kanwar's 1992 romantic drama that launched him into stardom.
Although born in New Delhi, Shah Rukh spent the first five years of his life in the coastal city of Mangalore between 1965 and 1970, where he lived with his grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed. The visit therefore carried both professional and personal significance for the actor.
Several videos from the event have since surfaced on social media, quickly going viral and attracting widespread attention from fans. The clips show Shah Rukh interacting warmly with the audience and performing some of the biggest hits from his illustrious career.
The evening effectively became a celebration of the superstar's cinematic journey. Videos captured him dancing to "Jhoome Jo Pathaan" and recreating memorable moments from "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge". One of the loudest cheers of the night came when he performed "Chammak Challo" after repeated requests from the crowd.
On the professional front, Shah Rukh is currently working on his highly anticipated action film, "King". The project is particularly significant as it will mark the theatrical debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan, following her acting debut in the Netflix film "The Archies".
"King" also features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles. The film has already generated considerable excitement among fans, especially after Shah Rukh and Deepika were recently spotted in Cape Town, where they were reportedly filming scenes for the project.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, who previously collaborated with Shah Rukh on the blockbuster "Pathaan", and co-written by acclaimed filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, "King" is currently slated for release during the Christmas holiday season in 2026.
