Dev to host new season of ‘Dadagiri’
Bengali superstar Dev is set to take over as the host of the popular game show “Dadagiri”, marking the end of Sourav Ganguly’s long-running stint at the helm of one of Bengali television’s most successful reality programmes.
After weeks of speculation, Dev confirmed the news through social media, expressing both excitement and nervousness as he prepares to begin a new chapter in his career.
Sharing a photo on Instagram Stories, the actor wrote, “A little nervous, a little happy. Above all, I’m incredibly excited. A brand-new journey begins,” while tagging broadcaster Zee Bangla.
Reports of Dev shooting promotional content for the new season had surfaced earlier, although the visuals were kept under wraps. His confirmation has now sparked widespread discussion among fans, many of whom are eager to see how he brings his own style to a show that has long been synonymous with former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly.
Ganguly hosted “Dadagiri” for several years, turning it into one of Bengali television’s highest-rated entertainment programmes. With Dev stepping into the role, viewers are now curious to see whether he can introduce a fresh dynamic while preserving the show’s familiar appeal.
Fans have also been speculating about the actor’s on-screen look for the programme, with many expressing excitement about seeing him in a completely different avatar as a television host.
The announcement comes at a busy time for Dev, who recently unveiled the first look of his upcoming directorial venture “DeSu7”, in which he also stars.
The host changes are part of a broader reshuffle in Bengali television. Earlier this month, Zee Bangla also announced a new presenter for its long-running reality show “Didi No 1”. Veteran host Rachna Banerjee, who fronted the programme for over 15 years, has been replaced by actress Swastika Mukherjee for the upcoming season.
