Bapparaj withdraws presidential bid for Film Artistes’ Association
Actor Bapparaj has decided not to contest the upcoming Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association election, despite previously announcing his intention to run for the post of president for the 2026–28 term.
The actor confirmed the decision to Prothom Alo, citing personal reasons behind his withdrawal.
“I have some personal reasons. One of them is related to business commitments. If I contest the election but cannot devote enough time to the responsibilities, it would not look appropriate. That is why I have decided to step away from the election,” Bapparaj said.
As preparations for the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association election gather pace, discussions surrounding potential candidates, alliances, and election panels have intensified across the film industry.
Bapparaj’s withdrawal is expected to alter the electoral equation, adding a new dimension to the race for the association’s top post. His decision has also sparked fresh speculation over who will ultimately remain in contention for the presidency.
