Pritam hints at major new chapter after birthday

Celebrated Bollywood composer Pritam Chakraborty has sparked fresh speculation among fans after sharing a cryptic social media post following his 55th birthday on June 14.

The composer, who recently received an outpouring of birthday wishes from fans and colleagues, took to social media to express his gratitude. However, it was a subtle hint about a new journey that caught the attention of followers and quickly fuelled discussion online.

Many fans believe the post could signal a major career shift, with some even drawing comparisons to Arijit Singh, who earlier this year announced plans to step away from playback singing for mainstream films.

The speculation comes at a time when Pritam is already making headlines following the release of the soundtrack for “Cocktail 2”. One of the album’s songs, “Mashuka”, recently became the subject of controversy after allegations surfaced claiming similarities with another composition. Pritam, however, has dismissed the accusations.

Questions about the future of the Pritam-Arijit partnership have also resurfaced in recent months. The two musicians have shared one of Bollywood’s most successful creative collaborations, producing numerous chart-topping songs over the years.

Pritam played a pivotal role in Arijit’s rise to fame, giving the singer one of his earliest opportunities in Bollywood. Their first collaboration proved to be a breakthrough success, and the duo went on to become one of the industry’s most popular composer-singer partnerships.

Earlier this year, while speaking about Arijit’s decision to step back from playback singing, Pritam revealed that he too had been contemplating retirement for some time.

The composer recalled jokingly telling Arijit that if they ever retired, they should travel together to Jiaganj and Tarapith. Shortly afterwards, Arijit publicly announced his plans to move away from playback singing, a coincidence that has now led fans to wonder whether Pritam could be considering a similar move.

Despite the growing speculation, the composer has not made any formal announcement regarding retirement.

For now, his latest social media message remains open to interpretation, leaving fans eagerly waiting to see whether it signals a new musical venture, a live concert tour, or a significant change in the next phase of his career.
