BTS’ V reveals hearing problem as Jungkook performs through shin injury
BTS member V has revealed that he has been receiving treatment for a hearing problem that has significantly reduced his hearing in his right ear.
The singer, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, disclosed the condition during a Weverse livestream with fellow BTS member Jungkook on Wednesday. V said his hearing had been deteriorating for about two and a half years and had not fully recovered.
“If my left ear can hear 100 per cent, my right ear is at just 30 per cent,” V said during the livestream. He added that he is taking medication and visiting hospital regularly for treatment.
The two members spoke during the livestream after BTS completed two concerts in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 10 and 11 as part of the North American leg of their “Arirang” world tour. Both shows were held at M&T Bank Stadium.
Jungkook also spoke about an injury near his shin that has affected his movements during the tour. He described the condition as being close to a stress fracture, with significant inflammation and possible micro-damage to the bone.
“Although I wanted to run energetically on the stage today, pain forced me to hold back at times,” Jungkook said, asking fans for their understanding.
He said he plans to manage the injury carefully in order to complete the tour.
BTS are next scheduled to perform at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on August 15 and 16, followed by two concerts at Rogers Stadium in Toronto on August 22 and 23.
