Souls releases unplugged rendition of ‘E Emon Porichoy’

Souls, one of Bangladesh’s most influential bands, has unveiled a new version of its timeless song “E Emon Porichoy”.

The unplugged version of the song was released on YouTube on Wednesday night (August 12), giving the popular track a fresh musical arrangement and atmosphere.

The song was recorded during the special concert “Souls Unplugged: 50 Years of Timeless Music”, held in Chattogram on May 2 this year. The video accompanying the release also features footage from the live performance at the concert.

“E Emon Porichoy, Onumoti Prarthona” was written by Salauddin Sajal, while its music was composed by Partha Barua. The song was the title track of Souls’ fifth studio album, released in 1993.

The newly arranged version has received an enthusiastic response from listeners, with many appreciating the band’s unplugged rendition of the much-loved song.

Souls was formed in Chattogram in 1973 and has been active for more than five decades. The band has released 12 studio albums and has performed concerts in Bangladesh and abroad over the years.

The current line-up features Partha Barua on guitar and vocals, Mir Masum on keyboards, Maruf Hasan Talukder on bass guitar and Abhijit Sengupta on drums.
