Director Shihab Shaheen is set to helm a new web film, “Cafe Umbrella”, featuring the top three winners of Lux Super Star 2025—Bidushi Barnita, Nazah Nawar and Amina Islam.

Filming is scheduled to begin on August 1, with shooting taking place in Dhaka, its surrounding areas and several other districts. The web film is expected to premiere on OTT platform iScreen later this year.

According to Shihab Shaheen, “Cafe Umbrella” is an ensemble drama comprising multiple interconnected storylines. The romance-drama will weave together three or four parallel narratives centred on relationships, love and human emotions. Despite its title, the filmmaker clarified that the story is not centred on a café or food.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, Shaheen said the project was announced during the Lux Super Star 2025 grand finale.

“The project featuring these three winners was announced on the day of the grand finale, and this is the one we are now making. I don’t want to reveal the story just yet. The poster and promotional materials will be released soon, and audiences will then get a glimpse of what the story is about,” he said.

The three winners will star opposite actors Tousif Mahbub, Partha Sheikh and Arefin Jilani. Mirakkel actor Saidur Rahman Pavel and Sanjida Tasnim will appear in key roles, alongside Saberi Alam and Shirin Alam.

To prepare the newcomers for the project, Shaheen recently conducted a 15-day acting workshop with the cast.

“They came through a grooming process during the competition, but they had little formal training in acting. We’ve spent the past few weeks working on that,” the director said.

Previous productions featuring Lux winners include “Daruchini Dwip” and “Amar Ache Jol”.
