‘Ispahani Mirzapore Banglabid’ returns with seventh season
The seventh edition of “Ispahani Mirzapore Banglabid”, Bangladesh’s largest Bengali language reality show, has been officially launched. Registration opened on Saturday and will remain open until July 30.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Channel i premises in Dhaka on June 27. The event was chaired by Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar and hosted by Mousumi Mou. Chief guest Professor Mansur Musa, a noted linguist and former Director General of Bangla Academy, formally declared the seventh edition open.
Ispahani Group directors Zahida Ispahani and Mirza Ahmed Ispahani were also present. Judges Anisul Hoque, Tropa Majumdar, and Professor Tariq Manzoor from Department of Bangla, University of Dhaka attended alongside Ispahani Tea Limited officials.
Speaking at the event, Faridur Reza Sagar said nearly two lakh competitors had registered for the previous edition. He expressed hope that the number would be even higher this year. He noted that several former contestants are now working in television and cultural organisations, which he described as the competition’s greatest achievement.
Ispahani Tea Limited General Manager Omar Hannan said the show had begun in 2017 but had lost three years to the Covid-19 pandemic and a national election. He also shared that the preliminary rounds will be held in divisional cities across the country. A total of 80 contestants will be selected to compete in the main rounds in Dhaka, which will be broadcast on Channel i. The grand finale is scheduled for January 1, 2027.
Judge Anisul Hoque described the show as the most beautiful, vibrant, and beneficial programme on Bangladeshi television. Tropa Majumdar said the public enthusiasm for a language-based competition was the show’s greatest strength.
Volunteer teams will carry news of the competition to schools in all divisions and regions. Further information is available on Channel i and on the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea Facebook page.
