The government has constituted an 11-member committee to oversee the selection of full-length feature films for state grants under the Full-length Feature Film Grant Policy 2025 (Revised).

The committee was announced on Thursday through a notification signed by Sharmin Akhter, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The committee includes producer Sarder Saniat Hossain, former Chair of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Dhaka Saiful Islam, Bangladesh Film Exhibitors’ Association President Awlad Hossain, and actor Rumana Islam Mukti.

The Minister for Information and Broadcasting will serve as the committee’s chair, while the ministry’s Joint Secretary (Film) will act as member secretary.

Other members are the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, the PM’s Adviser assigned to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ministry’s Secretary, the Additional Secretary (Film), and the Managing Director of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).

The committee has been formed in accordance with the Full-length Feature Film Grant Policy 2025 (Revised) to recommend projects eligible for government funding.

The announcement comes days after concerns were raised over delays in announcing grants for the 2025–26 fiscal year because the committee had yet to be formed. The committee’s formation is expected to pave the way for the long-awaited grant process.
