Nine arrested with 11 stolen motorcycles in Brahmanbaria
Police claimed to have arrested nine members of a bike-stealing gang along with 11 stolen motorcycles from different parts of Brahmanbaria's Sadar upazila.
A team of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station conducted operations last night and made the arrest.
Confirming the development, Kazi Masud Ibn Anwar, Inspector (Investigation) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, said that the arrestees were sent to jail through a court this afternoon.
The detainees are: "ringleader" Nasir Mia (23), Nayeem (20), Hussain Mia (40), Mizan Mia (28), Maulana Kausar Mia (50), Ruhul Amin Chowdhury, Alamgir Chowdhury (30), Omar Sunny alias Shimul (25), and Sumon Mia (27).
The police official said they have arrested the motorcycle-stealing gang members from different places of Sultanpur and Machhihata unions of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila during raids yesterday along with 11 stolen motorcycles.
Besides, Tk 2.7 lakh related to stolen vehicle trading was also seized from the arrestees, he added.
Mohammad Emranul Islam, officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, told The Daily Star, "Several motorcycle-stealing gangs are active in the district. We have recovered 11 stolen motorcycles while investigating a particular bike stealing incident. We have found six motorcycles in ringleader Nasir's possession."
Process to take necessary legal actions in this connection is underway, he added.
