A college girl has filed a case against her brother-in-law on charge of raping her several times between 2011 to 2020 in Sandwip upazila of Chattogram.

The victim's elder sister was also made accused in the case for helping the man rape her sister by luring her with prospects of a better life and educational support, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

The victim filed the case on Sunday with Sandwip police station, said Md Bashir Uddin Khan, officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station.

Quoting the case statement, OC Bashir Uddin Khan said the rape took place between 2011 to 2020 where the victim's elder sister helped her husband to rape her own sister at their residence.

"In the case statement, the victim alleged that her brother-in-law first raped her at his residence in 2011 when she was 16 years old. As the victim used to reside at the sister's house for educational purposes, the accused raped her frequently by threatening to stop her educational aid," said the OC.

"In the case statement, she mentioned that her sister and brother-in-law forcibly made her get an abortion in 2011," said the OC.

OC Bashir said "A few days ago, the victim got married but her brother-in-law started blackmailing her over the phone asking the victim to come to his home again. Failing to bear the pain, the victim disclosed the matter to her newly-wed husband and filed a case with the police station."

Now, police will take steps after investigation, added the police official.
