Madrasa teacher arrested over assaulting student in Bagerhat

Police last night arrested a madrasa teacher in a case filed for assaulting a student at Rampal upazila of Bagerhat.

Syed Mohammad Osman Gani (30) was arrested after the victim's father Moni Sheikh filed a case against him at the Rampal Police Station yesterday evening, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting police.

Osman hails from Botiaghata upazila of Khulna and is a teacher at the Haji Arif Keratul Quran Hafizia Madrasa at the Shrifaltala Uttarpara area in Rampal, reports our correspondent.

"Osman beat the student Md Shukur Sheikh (11) while he was tied to a ceiling fan hook at the madrasa because he did not study well enough. We have sent Osman to court today," said Rampal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Samsuddin.

"The student is in good health now and is at home," added the OC.
