Cuet student held under DSA for ‘derogatory remarks’ on religion
Police have arrested a student of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) for allegedly making derogatory remarks about religion on Facebook.
The student was arrested from the port city's Uttor Nalapara area early this morning, reports our Chattogram correspondent quoting Md Anwar Hossain Shamim, assistant superintendent of police (Raozan-Rangunia circle).
Before his arrest, police filed a case with Raozan Police Station against the student under Digital Security Act after his alleged derogatory remarks went viral on Facebook.
Cuet authorities later suspended the student from the university. The decision was taken at a disciplinary committee meeting today, said Rashedul Islam, public relations officer of Cuet.
