CMP claims to have arrested 'IT expert' of Ansar Al Islam trained in Syria

CMP's Counter Terrorism Division today claimed to have arrested the "IT expert" of banned militant organisation Ansar Al Islam from Chattogram city's Khulshi area last night. 

The arrestee has been identified as Shakhawat Ali alias Lalu, 40, a resident of Wasa area under Khulshi, reports our Chattogram staff correpondent.

Hasan Md Shawkat Ali, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of CT division, said he was held in front of Central Ahle Hadith Jame Mosque of South Khushi.

Lalu is the IT expert of Ansar Al Islam and was trained in Syria from Hayat Tahrir Arsham (HTS) in 2017, said the DC.

He joined the militant organisation with the help of his brothers-in-law Mamun and Arif in 2012 added the DC.

DC Hasan said he had also met with absconding top militant Major Zia earlier in 2013.

A case was lodged in this connection with Khulshi police station.
