Zero tolerance to adulteration: Food minister
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today declared that government has taken a zero-tolerance policy against adulteration.
Labeling adulterators as enemy of society and humanity, he said a social movement will be forged and awareness raised in this issue.
The minister made the declaration while talking to reporters in front of the Secretariat in Dhaka. “We want safe food around the year.”
Calling for calm over food adulteration, the food minister said mobile court is conducting anti-adulteration drives during the month of Ramadan.
“If needed, the more mobile courts will be deployed and the punishment for adulteration increased to ensure safe food,” he said.
His comments come in purview of the High Court intervening with food adulteration, ordering production halt to 52 essential commodities.
