Youth kills father for money

A young man allegedly killed his father in Nabinagar municipality area on Friday as the latter refused to sell his property and give him the money to start a business.

The victim, Amir Hossain of Alamnagar area, was a retired army official.

Meanwhile, the alleged killer Arafat Islam Shuvo, 24, surrendered to Nabinagar police the same night, after 10 hours of the killing incident.

Police produced him before a court on Saturday that sent him to jail.

Quoting locals, police said Shuvo had been demanding some money from his father to start a business.

As his father was unwilling to sell his property, Shuvo locked into an altercation with his father on Friday issue.

At one stage, Shuvo hacked Amir with a machete, leaving him critically injured, Officer in Charge of Nabinagar Police Station Ranjit Roy said, adding that, injured Amir later died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
