Yaba trader killed in Cox’s Bazar gunfight: Rab

A yaba trader has been killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar last night, Rab said today.

Rab members seized 10,000 yaba tablets, one locally made firearm, a knife and three bullets from the spot, our Cox's Bazar staff correspondent reports.

Two Rab members also sustained injuries during the gunfight, Rab-15 said in a text message around 10:00am today.

Rab-15 Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Shah Alam said a Rab team saw a group of people running while patrolling Baharchara area last night.

Seeing this, the elite force chased those men, he said. The group of men fired at the Rab members, he added.

In retaliation, Rab members also fired back, forcing the criminals to flee the scene, he added.

After the gunfight, they found a bullet-hit unidentified criminal, the Rab official said adding he was rushed to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex but doctors declared him dead.

The body was kept at Teknaf Police Station.
