Two injured in BSF firing
Two Bangladeshi nationals sustained bullet injuries as Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on them near Fultola border in Juri upazila yesterday.
The victims were identified as Abdul Momin Bappa, 32, son of Abdur Rouf, and Kalam Mia, 34, son of Shafiq Mia, of Fultola village.
Of them, Bappa is now undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital under police custody.
Lt Col Faizur Rahman, commanding officer (CO) of BGB 52 Battalion, said the Indian border guards opened fire on the duo while they were trying to enter Indian Territory illegally in the morning, leaving them injured.
Soon after the incident injured Kalam fled the area to avoid arrest, the CO said, adding that they were taking preparation to send a protest letter in this regard to their Indian counterparts.
