Schoolboy drowns in river

A schoolboy drowned in a river in Dinajpur Sadar upazila yesterday.

The victim was identified as Durjoy Islam Niloy, 15, a Class X student of Dinajpur Chehelgazi Shikkha Niketan, and son of Toufique Islam of Ramnagar area in Dinajpur town.

Family sources said Niloy went missing while he along with his four friends was bathing in the Punnorbhaba river at around 3:00pm.

Hearing screams of his friends, local rushed there and tried to rescue Niloy, but failed.

Divers of Rangpur Fire Brigade recovered his body at around 5:50pm.
