Robbery, drug case accused killed in gunfight in Naogaon: police
A man accused in six separate cases including arms, narcotics and robbery, was killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Naogaon's Porsha upazila this morning.
The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain alias Dukhu (47), from Anuthpur village in the upazila, said Md Sahinur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Porsha Police Station told our correspondent.
Police along with Delwar went to Fakir Moor this morning to recover weapons and drugs but Delwar's accomplices, who were hiding there at the time fired shots at police. Police also fired back in self-defense and Delwar suffered bullet-injuries.
He was declared dead after being taken to Porsha Upazila Health Complex. Police recovered a pistol and a machete from the spot.
Delwar's body has been sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for autopsy and preparations are underway to file a case in this regard.
