Readjustment of utility service price won’t cause sufferings: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said a slight increase in power and water tariffs was unlikely to cause people sufferings.

"The tariffs of power and water have been increased slightly in a bid to ensure uninterrupted supply of the amenities as the government has to subsidise those," he told a press conference at AL President Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi political office in the city.

 "We want to make sure every home has electricity in the 'Mujib Year' and ensure uninterrupted power supply so that the people do not suffer in the upcoming summer season. Although the people face little problem [due to power and water tariff hike], they will be benefited significantly," he added.
