Police officer killed in Tangail road crash

A police official was killed after his motorcycle collided head-on with a passenger bus in Bikramhati area on Dhaka-Tangail highway under Tangail Sadar Upazila this afternoon.

The victim was Md Kazi Wazed Ali (50), son of late Jamsher Ali of Ghatail upazila in the district and town sub-inspector (TSI) of Jatrabari zone in Dhaka, our local correspondent reports quoting Md Shafiqul Islam, a senior station officer of the local Fire Service Station.

An oncoming passenger bus hit Wazed when he was going to Ghatail from Dhaka by a motorcycle leaving him dead on the spot around 5:25pm, the fire service official said.

On information, a team of firefighters recovered the body and handed it over to the Elenga Highway Police, he said. 

The body was later sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police are yet to seize the bus or detain its driver and helper according to the fire service official.
