Parts of Gaibandha out of power after fire at grid station

Many areas of Gaibandha district are out of power after a fire broke out at a 132/32KV grid station in Gaibandha's Palashbari upazila this afternoon.

The fire broke out around 4:30pm following a technical problem in a 33KV feeder of the Gobindaganj line of Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) which is a PDB company, said Rafiqul Islam, sub-assistant engineer of the grid station.

"Within 4 minutes we extinguished the fire, but electricity was cut off from some areas in the district including Gobindaganj upazila," the official said.

"We hope to reconnect the supply lines within a few hours and resume electricity supply to the whole district," he added.
