One dead in Rajshahi road accident

A road accident in Rajshahi's Paba upazila has left a motorcycle rider injured and the pillion rider dead.

The accident happened in front of the Rahaman Cold Storage around 9:30am today when a bus ran over the motorbike, police said.

The dead has been identified as Abdus Salam (52). He worked for Babu (45), a local trader who suffered injuries in the incident, according to Sheikh Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge of Paba Police Station.

"A Naogaon-bound bus of Munna Enterprise ran over them on the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway, leaving Abdus Salam dead on spot. Babu fell on the road and suffered serious injuries," said OC Golam Mostafa.  

"Locals admitted Babu to a hospital and apprehended the bus but the driver and the helper ran away. Police reached the spot on information, recovered the body and sent it to morgue for autopsy," he told The Daily Star.
