Nurse stabbed by stalkers dies at RMCH
A young nurse, who was stabbed allegedly by a group of stalkers in Thakurgaon a week ago, lost her battle for life at Rangpur Medical College Hospital today.
Tanjina Akhter, 24, breathed her last at the RMCH around 8:00am, our Thakurgaon correspondent reports quoting victim’s father Abdul Hamid.
The victim had been undergoing treatment at the hospital with the stab injuries on her right hand, chest and abdomen since the attack, he said.
A group of stalkers stabbed Tanjina, a nurse of Grameen Eye Hospital in Thakurgaon’s Sadar upazila on June 20, near her workplace when she was protesting the stalking.
The victim was first taken to hospital from where she was shifted to RMCH as her condition deteriorated and died at the hospital seven days after the attack.
On the day of the incident, victim’s father filed a case with Thakurgaon Police Station accusing one Arman Hossain Jiban and four-five unnamed stalkers.
According to the case statement, Jiban, 19, son of Delwar Hossain of Madrasapara village, along with his accomplices used to stalk Tanjina on the way to her workplace.
Sub-Inspector of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Md. Motauzzaman, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, told this correspondent that police arrested Jiban, the prime accused of the incident, on the day of the incident and gave confessional statement under section 164 the following day.
