‘Nurse killed after being raped in Kishoreganj’
A nurse was raped and killed allegedly by driver of a bus and its helper in Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj yesterday, her family claimed today.
Victim’s father Gias Uddin filed a case with Bajitpur Police Station against the driver and his helper this evening stating they raped his daughter when she was alone in the bus and later, they killed her.
Police arrested bus driver Md Nuruzzaman, 39, and its helper Lalon Mia, 33, following the incident, Masrukur Rahman Khaled, superintendent of police in Kishoreganj told our Mymensingh correspondent.
Meanwhile, during primary interrogation by police, the accused denied the allegations.
Shahinur Akhter Tania, 24, a nurse at Ibne Sina Hospital in Dhaka, was going to her home in Baherchar village under Lohajuri Union in Katiadi upazila by a bus of Shornolota Paribahan last evening.
After the bus reached Katiadi Bus Stand around 8:00pm, Tania, called her family members and told that she would reach the Pirijpur Bus Stop within half-an-hour, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Katiadi Police Station Md Shafiqul Islam said quoting family members.
Tania was the lone passenger while the bus was running for Pirijpour Bus Stand from Katiadi, the OC said.
Later, Tania was found in a critical state at Gojaria Jaamtoli area in Bajitpur. Later, she was rushed to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex around 10.45pm last night where the doctors declared her dead, said SP Masrukur Rahman Khaled.
In primary interrogation, the driver and the helper told police that Tania was alone in the bus and she “jumped off” the bus and got injured, the SP said.
They rescued and took her to a local pharmacy by the bus, but the pharmacy owner suggested them to take her to hospital and later she was rushed to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared her dead, said the SP quoting them.
“We are investigating the incident seriously. The actual fact could be known after getting the autopsy report,” he added.
The body was sent it to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police also recovered the missing bag, mobile and clothes of the victim this morning.
