Mentally challenged woman raped in Manikganj

A mentally challenged woman has been raped by a man in Daulatpur upazila of Manikganj, police said.

Police arrested one AKM Chan Mia after the victim’s mother filed a case against him yesterday in connection with the incident, said Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sunil Kumar Karmaker.

According to the case statement, the woman fell sick recently and underwent an ultrasound which revealed that she was five months’ pregnant. Later, she informed her mother about the incident, the statement reads.

Today, the accused was sent to jail after police produced him before a local court, the OC told our Manikganj correspondent.

The police official also said that the victim’s medical test has been completed.
