Man kills daughter,takes own life in Mymensingh
A man allegedly committed suicide after killing his one-and-a-half-years old daughter at Boroichala village in Bhaluka upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Jamil Hossain, 40, a rickshaw-van puller of the village and his daughter Rabeya Begum.
Quoting Jamil's wife Rokeya Begum police said Jamil had been suffering from deep depression for the last few days as he was facing trouble in repaying the loans he had taken.
Out of the depression, Jamil first killed Rabeya by slitting her throat with a knife and then stabbed himself with the same weapon around 6:30am, Officer-in-Charge Mamun-or-Rashid of Bhaluka Police Station said.
Hearing hue and cry, neighbours went to the spot and took Jamil to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex. He died on way to the hospital around 7:00am, the OC added.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Away in Jessore, a schoolgirl committed suicide allegedly over a family feud at Balidha village in Monirampur upazila on Monday night, reports our Benapole correspondent.
The deceased, Lipi Khatun, 14, daughter of Fazlur Rahman, was a Class IX student at Balidha High School.
Quoting Fazlur Rahman police said Lipi had an altercation with her mother over a trifling matter on Monday night.
At one stage, she went to her room and later hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of the room around 9:30pm.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
