Madrasa girl dumped into drain; minor battling for life after rape
A tenth-grader madrasa girl was dumped into a drain after she was raped in Jhenidah’s Kaliganj while a first-grader girl was battling for life today after she was subjected to such violence in Habiganj’s Baniachang, police said.
Besides, a teenager has been gang-raped in Jhenidah. A case was filed in this connection today.
In Jhenidah, the madrasa girl was ditched early today after she was raped allegedly by two youths last night, according to police and family.
The incident took place after she stepped out of her home to recharge her phone around 8:00pm, the family members said adding that locals rescued her from the ditch in an unconscious state with her hands and legs tied around 5:00am.
The victim could recognise one of the culprits -- Alamin, a mason and also a neighbour, family claimed.
Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Younus Ali told our local correspondent that he visited the spot this afternoon.
The victim was sent to the district Sadar hospital for treatment and medical test, the OC said. A case has been filed in this connection, he added.
Meanwhile, police today placed two youths under arrest in connection with another case filed for raping a schoolgirl on April 25 in the same upazila.
The arrestees were identified as Khairul Islam, 22, son of Badar Uddin and Mortaza Bappi, 23, son of Rabiul Islam, both hailing from Balidapara village.
The victim’s family filed a case with Kaliganj Police Station today accusing three persons, OC Younus Ali told our local correspondent.
However, the other accused, whose identity could not be known immediately, was on the run, he added.
MINOR BATTLING FOR LIFE
A six-year-old girl has been battling for life after she was raped in Baniachang upazila of Habiganj last evening, doctor said.
Dr Arshad Ali of Habiganj Sadar Hospital said the child was referred to Sylhet Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.
The victim’s mother claimed that one Jahangir Mia, 20, son of Arjat Ali of Kakura village, was behind the incident that took place around 8:00pm on Friday.
She was rushed to the hospital and police recorded the victim’s statement at the hospital, said Rashed Mobarak, officer-in-charge of Baniachang Police Station.
The OC said they were trying to arrest the accused.
