HC clears way for holding O and A-level exams
The High Court today cleared the way for the authorities concerned to hold the Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations scheduled to start tomorrow.
The bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam summarily rejected a writ petition filed seeking its order upon the government to postpone the O and A-Level examinations.
The court rejected the petition on the ground that the O and A-Level examinations can be held as the situation has become normal, writ petitioner's lawyer Moniruzzaman Lincon told The Daily Star.
Tamanna Tabassum, an A-Level student, submitted the writ petition to the HC on September 27, saying that the students could not take preparations for the examinations as their classes were closed for last six months due to ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Besides, many students of O and A-Level did not receive their admit cards for attending the exams on October 1, she said in the petition.
Earlier, the government reportedly gave approval to British Council to administer O and A-Level examinations in October and November while students continue protests demanding the cancellation of exams amid the coronavirus pandemic.
