Garments trader hacked to death in Pabna

A garments trader was hacked to death in the district town on Wednesday night.

The victim is Anu Agarwala, 32, owner of Chandni Fashion at Alahaz Super Market in the town, and son of Sham Sundor Agarwala of Pabna town hall area.

Locals and family sources said criminals hacked Anu at Pabna town hall premises, leaving him seriously injured when he was returning home around 10:30pm.

He was taken to Pabna Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

A gang often gathered in front of Pabna town hall and demanded extortion, said the victim's father.

Contacted, Anam Abdullah Al Hasan, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, said police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, traders of the market kept shutters of their shops down yesterday morning, protesting the killing.

They also formed a human chain in front of Pabna Press Club around 11:00am, demanding immediate arrest and capital punishment of the killers.

None of the killers was arrested as of filing of this reportes at 4:00 pm yesterday.
