Fratricide over land dispute in Pabna

A man beat his elder brother dead over a land dispute at Bhajpara village in Pabna Sadar upazila yesterday. 
The deceased was identified as Nawab Ali Pramanik, 50, of the village. 
Police quoted deceased's family members as saying that there had been a longstanding dispute between two siblings, Nawab Ali and Abdul Latif, over the ownership of land. 
Both the brothers engaged in an altercation over the issue around 7:00am and at one stage, Latif severely beat up Nawab with an iron rod and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.
Family members rushed Nawab to Pabna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries soon after admission. On information, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Victim's son Atiar Hossain filed a case with Sadar Police Station accusing Latif and four others, Ahsanul Haque, officer-in-charge of the police station said.
Police are trying to nab the culprits, the OC said.
