Father, son killed in Gaibandha road crash

A man and his son were killed in a road accident in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha this evening.

The incident took place on Gaibandha-Palashbari road near the upazila health complex around 7:00pm, reports our Bogura correspondent quoting police.

The deceased were identified as Mominul Islam, 45, headmaster of Satarpara Girls’ High School in the upazila, and his son Mahin, a third-grader at Unique Kindergarten School.

Mominul was going to Palashbari town with his son riding a motorcycle when a microbus hit them from behind and fled from the scene, leaving the father dead on the spot and son critically injured, Inspector (Investigation) Motiur Rahman of Palashbari Police Station said quoting witnesses.

Mahin succumbed to his injuries after he was rushed to the upazila health complex, the police official said.

The bodies of the victims have been kept at the police station and will be handed over to family after completing due procedures, said Masudur Rahman Masud, officer-in-charge of the police station.

No case has been filed in this connection and no arrest could be made yet since the microbus managed to flee from the scene, the OC added.
