Drug peddler gets life

A court here yesterday sentenced a drug peddler to life imprisonment and fined him Tk 5,000. The lifer is Omar Ali, 40, son of late Shahanat Ullah of Talpatti Char village in Gangachara upazila. According to the prosecution, members of Narcotics Control Department in the district arrested Omar Ali with 112 bottles of phensidyl at his house on October 11, 2004. A case was filed with Gangachara Model Police Station against Omar Ali. After examining witnesses and evidence, Additional District and Sessions Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman found him guilty and pronounced the verdict.
