Dredger used for sand lifting seized from Cox's Bazar reserve forest
A team of forest officials seized a dredger used for sand lifting from inside Machuakhali reserve forest of Meherghuna range under Cox's Bazar North forest division early today.
Mamun Mia, range officer of Meheghuna Range, conducted the overnight drive along with his forces and seized the dredger and a 100 feet pipe, while those were engaged in lifting sand from a canal flowing through the reserve forest.
Sohel Rana, assistant conservator of Cox's Bazar Divisional Forest Office (north), told The Daily Star that acting on tip-off, a team led by ranger Mamun Mia rushed to the spot where around 30 criminals tried to attack the officials. At one stage, they fled the scene leaving the dredger and the pipe.
A case has been filed against the perpetrators, he added.
