Dredger used for sand-lifting destroyed by Hathazari upazila administration

Hathazari Upazila Administration destroyed a dredger which was being used for lifting sand at the remote Kanchpur area on Sunday.

Ruhul Amin, the upazila nirbahi officer, told The Daily Star that they went to the spot acting on a tip-off. It took around two hours to reach the area.

He said miscreants had dug land inside the forest and had also cut down some trees.

The criminals managed to flee when they sensed the drive, but left behind the dredger, which was destroyed, Amin said.
